Mission Council

The Mission Council is the governing body of the South Central Jurisdiction between Jurisdictional Conference sessions. The Council meets annually to discuss and make decisions regarding the operations of the Jurisdiction.

Mission of the Jurisdictional Mission Council: To make disciples of Jesus Christ by connecting and enhancing the ministries of the annual conferences, celebrating creative ministries, networking and equipping conference leadership, and providing opportunities for ministry.

Vision of the Jurisdictional Mission Council: To be a vital connection across the Jurisdiction, initiating, shaping, and sharing information which leads to a passion for Christian Discipleship.

Mission Council Responsibilities:  The Mission Council oversees the work of the Executive Director of Mission and Administration.  It also has ties to the three agencies owned by the Jurisdiction:  Lydia Patterson Institute…a school in El Paso, TX operating mainly to education Hispanic and Latino children;  Mount Sequoyah Assembly…a Conference Center located in Fayetteville, AR; and Southern

The Mission Council does not supervise personnel –  bishops, clergy, or Lay.  These are Annual Conference responsibilities, as described by the Book of Discipline of the United Methodist Church.  For matters dealing with these areas, please contact the Annual Conference or the Bishop of the Area in which you have a concern.
